About this property

Welcome to ABode Canterbury

ABode Canterbury offers contemporary accommodation within a stylish Tudor-style building situated on Canterbury’s High Street. The hotel’s chic design blends modern comforts with historic character, providing guests with air-conditioned rooms and amenities such as free Wi-Fi, room service, and laundry facilities. Its central location places it just minutes on foot from key attractions like the Marlowe Theatre and Canterbury Cathedral, making it well-suited for visitors looking to explore the city’s cultural landmarks.

The property features an on-site bar and a restaurant serving Modern British and European cuisine, alongside a café, making dining options convenient for guests throughout the day. Meeting facilities and conference spaces also cater to business travelers, while the absence of a fitness center and airport shuttle suggests a focus on leisure and local exploration rather than extensive amenities.

Guest reviews frequently highlight the friendly and professional staff, with particular praise for attentive service at reception and the bar. While most guests appreciate the stylish rooms and central setting, some have noted minor issues such as variable air conditioning performance and limited parking options. These observations reflect the experience of staying in a central medieval city location, where access by car can be challenging.

Ideal for tourists and business visitors interested in Canterbury’s historic and cultural offerings, ABode Canterbury provides a practical, comfortable base with easy access to nearby sites such as The Beaney House of Art & Knowledge and St Augustine's Abbey. The surrounding area also hosts other hotels within walking distance, offering a variety of additional accommodations.

Have recently stayed 2 nights in the abode and loved the room and location. The building is very stylish and is staffed by well dressed friendly people. A special mention to Louis on reception, a charming and professional gentleman who ensured we had a comfortable stay and answered any queries we had with precise and clear answers. Would stay again.

We stayed here for two nights with our dog. The hotel was perfectly placed right in the centre of the city for sightseeing. The staff were very friendly and helpful and our room was fabulous. We were up graded for booking direct with the hotel. We will definitely stay here again.

Great stay for Canterbury, was issue with room, but Louis on the desk resolved quickly and friendly with an upgrade which was brilliant. Also managed to park in site which makes it easier as well, just get there early, breakfast and all staff very friendly, and hotel centrally located, would recommend!

We go to the Abode for the amazing cocktails (two for £16!) they are the best in Canterbury…..we have the Cosmopolitans and they are amazing. The highlight of our visit is Jack the barman, what a great staff member, he is extremely welcoming, warm and friendly and the reason we return time and time again. Jack remembers us each time and the cocktail we always have. Jack is a true gentleman and is a credit to the Abode.

We stayed at Abode for 3 nights earlier this week. It is a bit of a fiddle to get to if you have a car and want to unload but it’s right in the middle of a medieval town so you have to expect these things! The check in staff were all very helpful and friendly. The room was at the side so there was no real view but equally there was no noise. The room was neither small nor large. Everything was clean and everything worked. There is a quiet lounge on the first floor and a great bar come coffee lounge next to the entrance and a more upmarket bistro restaurant at the rear. I thought it was very good value considering it was only marginally more expensive than a more budget hotel and right on the main pedestrian shopping road. It is also only 2 minutes away from the Cathedral. We have family who have moved locally who don’t have enough room for guests so we will be returning from time to time. We will come back to Abode because our stay was nice, the staff were good and it was reasonably priced. We did breakfast out mind you

Prime location, very good price. Staff were brilliant, helpful and funny. Room was amazing and the bed was the biggest and comfiest I've ever slept in. Definitely a place to go back to.

Fantastic hotel, right in the heart of the city. It is just steps away from bars, shops, and restaurants. The rooms are very well maintained and spacious. You'll have ample space to sprawl out. The bathrooms are pristine, clean, and include very fine shampoo, conditioner, and soaps. The bed was luxurious, perfectly comfortable and soft. The staff is friendly, prompt, and flexible. The major downside I would say is the TV. It seems very outdated, could use an upgrade to a smart TV. That's the only room for significant improvement.
